Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the battery and battery cables. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Battery and Battery Cable - Separate and Connect " in this manual.Note: The alternator can not be accessed through the engine compartment. The alternator must be accessed through an access cover behind the operator's seat.

Remove bolts (1). Remove panel (2) .Note: Panel (2) is located behind the operator's seat.

Move the rubber cap to the side. Remove wires (3) from the back of the alternator.

Remove the washer and top mounting bolt (4) .
Move the alternator toward the engine. Remove the V-belt from the alternator.
Remove bottom mounting bolt (5) and the nut from the alternator and the alternator bracket.
Remove the alternator from the engine.Installation Procedure
The alternator must be installed through the access panel behind the operator's seat.

Install wires (3) on the rear of the alternator. Install the rubber cap onto the terminal.Note: Installation of wires (3) is less complicated prior to the installation of the alternator.

Install the alternator onto the alternator bracket.
Install bottom mounting bolt (5) and the nut in order to secure the alternator to the alternator bracket.
Inspect the V-belt for wear. Replace the V-belt if wear is noted. Install the V-belt.
Install the washer and top mounting bolt (4). Do not tighten the bolt at this time.
Pull the alternator away from the engine in order to tension the V-belt. Tighten the washer and top mounting bolt (5) to a torque of 28 7 N m (21 5 lb ft).

Install access panel (2). Secure access panel (2) with bolts (1) .End By: Install the battery and battery cables. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Battery and Battery Cable - Separate and Connect" in this manual.
