2. Disconnect suction pipe (2) from the underside of steering and implement pilot pump (1). Disconnect outlet hose assembly (3) from the pump. 3. Disconnect two pilot hose assemblies (4) from tee (5).4. Fasten a suitable hoist to the steering and implement pilot pump. Remove the two bolts and washers that hold the pump to the torque converter housing and remove the pump. The weight of the pump is approximately 27 kg (60 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the steering and implement pilot pump.5. Check the condition of all O-ring seals. If any of the seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.6. Fasten a suitable hoist to the steering and implement pilot pump. Put the pump in position on the torque converter housing. The weight of the pump is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).7. Install the two bolts and washers that hold the steering and implement pilot pump to the torque converter housing. 8. Connect two pilot hose assemblies (4) to tee (5). 9. Connect suction pipe (2) to the underside of steering and implement pilot pump (1). Connect outlet hose assembly (3) to the pump.10. Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level. Refer to R1700 Series II L.H.D. Operation & Maintenance Manual, Form No. SEBU7320 (9EL9466) for the correct filling procedure.End by:a. Separate steering frame lock link.b. Install fire extinguisher bottle (if equipped).Disassemble Steering and Implement Pilot Pump
Start by:a. Remove steering and implement pilot pump. Fluid Spillage ContainmentCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, Caterpillar Tools and Shop Product Guide, for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Elphinstone machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.1. Be sure the outside of the steering and pilot pumps are thoroughly clean prior to disassembly.2. Put an alignment mark across the steering pump body assembly and flange assembly for assembly purposes. 3. Remove O-ring seal (3) from flange assembly (1).4.
