Your machine may be equipped with a stump treatment system. The reservoirs for the stump treatment are located at the front of the machine.The insulation material (2) in the housing of the reservoir (1) may become damaged. Check the insulation for damage. Replace damaged insulation as soon as possible.The pump (3) for the stump treatment system is located near the housing for the reservoir.

The stump treatment system may stop operating at some time. If the pump (3) stops operating, cleaning of the valve is required.Two plugs (4) are located on the valve. Remove the two plugs. A spring and a ball are located under each plug. Clean the springs and clean the balls with a clean nonflammable solvent. Clean the seats for the springs and balls. Do not use a sharp object for cleaning. A sharp object can damage the seats.Install the springs and balls. Install the plugs.Note: Two different springs are used. One spring is soft and one spring is stiff. The soft spring should be installed in the suction line. The suction line leads from the reservoir.Precautions during Cold Weather
The entire stump treatment system should be drained and the system should be cleaned with an antifreeze solution before shutdown. This should be done if the system will not be used overnight or if the system will not be used between a longer period of time. If the pump is not drained and cleaned, the pump may freeze. If the pump freezes, the pump may break. Use the following procedures in order to clean the pump and fill the pump with antifreeze.
Remove the suction line from the reservoir. Place the end of the suction in antifreeze.
Operate the pump until antifreeze exits the saw bar on the harvester head. This will fill the pump and the hoses with antifreeze.
Be sure to operate the pump before operation. This will clear the pump and the lines of antifreeze.When the stump treatment system is stored for a long period of time, special precautions must be carried out. Completely drain the stump treatment system and clean the stump treatment system. This includes all lines and fittings. Drain the pump and clean the pump. Fill the lines and the pump with clean hydraulic oil. This will prevent the valves from sticking.
