Diesel engine exhaust contains products of combustion which may cause personal injury.Always start and operate the engine in a well ventilated area, and, if in an enclosed area, vent the exhaust to the outside.
Personal injury can result from rotating and moving parts. Stay clear of all rotating and moving parts.Never attempt adjustments while the machine is moving or the engine is running unless otherwise specified.The machine must be parked on a level surface and the engine stopped.Attach a "Do Not Operate" or similar warning tag to the start switch and controls before servicing, repairing, or making adjustments to the machine.
Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

Move travel direction switch (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Rotate propulsion speed dial (2) counterclockwise to the MINIMUM position.

Move parking brake lever (3) to the ON position.

Move throttle control lever (4) o the LOW-IDLE position.

Move lock (5) out of the way, and move screed lift lever (6) into the FLOAT position. Lower the screed to the ground.

Move engine start switch (7) to the OFF position.

Remove four bolts (9) and washers. Remove cover (8).

(A) 11 1 mm (0.43 0.039 inch)
Measure the deflection of the chain. The deflection at the midpoint of the chain should be 11 1 mm (0.43 0.039 inch) (A).
If the deflection is outside the specified range go to Step 11, if the deflection is inside the specified range, go to Step 12.
Use the following procedure in order to adjust the chain tension:

Loosen, but do not remove, four bolts (10).

Loosen locknut (11).
Turn adjustment bolt (12) clockwise in order to tighten the drive chain.
Turn adjustment bolt (12) counterclockwise in order to loosen the drive chain.
Hold adjustment bolt (12).
Tighten locknut (11).
Tighten bolts (10).
Go to Step 9.
Install cover (8). Tighten bolts (9).
