Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system until the level of the coolant is below the water temperature regulator housing. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Remove tube assembly (1) and tube assembly (4) from the housing assembly.
Remove bolts (3), the retainers, and the retaining ring.
Disconnect flange (2) and tube assembly (5). Remove the O-ring seals from tube assembly (5).

Disconnect tube assembly (7) from the water temperature regulator housing.
Attach a suitable lifting device to the water temperature regulator housing and the housing assembly. The weight of the water temperature regulator housing and the housing assembly is approximately 40 kg (88 lb).
Remove the bolts and disconnect plates (6).
Remove bolts (9) and disconnect manifolds (8) from the water temperature regulator housing. Remove the gaskets.

Remove bolts (10) and separate housing assembly (11) from the water temperature regulator housing. Remove the gasket.
Remove bolts (12) and the cover. Remove the gasket and the valve assembly, if necessary.
