Image1.17.1
1.1 Stop and park the machine on a smooth, horizontal location that is away from operating machines and away from personnel.
1.2. Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all other personnel away from the machine or in the operator's sight.
1.3 With the machine off, place the gauge on the E-Bar as shown in Image 1.18.1 in order to measure the relative movement between the equalizer bar and the roller frame.
Image1.18.1
1.4 Move away from the machine a safe distance that is within the operators view and within view of the dial bore gauge.
1.5 Have the operator restart the machine and raise the blade off the ground. : DO NOT position any person between the ground and the blade or any other potential pinch points.
1.6 Read and record the measurement of the dial bore gauge. If you can not read the individual graduations of the gauge, note the starting position of the needle.
1.7 Have the operator lift the front of the tractor off the ground as far as possible. : DO NOT position any person between the ground and the tractor or any other potential pinch points.
1.8 From the vantage point stated in step 1.4, read and record the measurement from the dial bore gauge. If you can not read the individual graduations of the gauge, note approximately how far the needle traveled from the needle's starting position from Step 1.6.
1.9 Subtract the measurement recorded in Step 1.6 from the measurement recorded in Step 1.8. This value is the relative movement between the end of the equalizer bar and roller frame. If the individual graduations could not be read and the approximate travel distance of the needle was observed, equate the amount of needle travel to a value that is either less than 1.5mm or greater than 1.5mm.
1.9.1 Repeat steps 1.1 to 1.9 on the other side of the tractor.
If the values calculated or observed in Step 1.9 on either side of the machine are greater than 1.5mm, the end joints should be disassembled and the parts repaired or replaced. ( This repair should not be claimed under this Service Letter.)
If the center pin bearings have not been lubricated every 250 hours or every month, check the equalizer bar center pin and bearings at the time when the equalizer end pins and bearings are being repaired. A new center pin diameter is: D6R II 63.469 +/- 0.038; D6R III and D6T 70.178 +/-0.038 mm. A new center pin bearing inside diameter after assembly is: D6R II 63.687 +/- 0.084 mm; D6R III and D6T 70.367 +/- 0.115 mm. If there is more than 2.5mm or play in the center joint, it should be repaired. (This repair should not be claimed under this Service Letter.)
2.0 Remove failed track, worn rollers, and worn idlers per applicable steps in Disassembly / Assembly manual(s)
3.0 Remove all existing top and bottom bolt-on idler guards. These will be re-used. The top idler guards require modification before re-installation, but the bottom idler guards do not require
