Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Inspect all O-rings, seals, and gaskets for wear or damage. Replace if necessary
Drain the coolant from the engine into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual , "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Remove four bolts (1) and remove tube (2) and flanges (3).

Remove two bolts (4) and eight bolts (5).
Remove oil cooler elbow (6).

Remove eight bolts (7) and two bolts (9).
Remove oil cooler elbow (8).

Disconnect hoses (14) and remove elbow (15).

Remove two bolts (16) and remove clips (17).
Remove tube (18).

Attach a suitable lifting device to the oil cooler (23). The oil cooler weighs approximately 105 kg (231 lb).
Remove eight bolts (22).
Lower oil cooler (23) to the ground.
