Personal injury or death can result from fires.Inspect the machine periodically for accumulation of debris and paper. Remove the accumulation to prevent engine overheating and fires.
Keep the equipment free from foreign material. Remove debris, oil, tools, and other items from the following areas:
Decks
Walkways
Steps
Engine compartment
Belly guards
Radiator cores
Filters
Exhaust components
Other areas

If debris is found, the area must be cleaned.Note: When you inspect the machine, always look for burning debris or smoke.All fuels, most lubricants, and some coolant mixtures are flammable. Flammable fluids that are leaking or spilled onto hot surfaces or onto electrical components can cause a fire. Fire may cause personal injury and property damage. Remove all flammable materials such as fuel, oil, and debris from the machine. Do not allow any flammable materials to accumulate on the machine.Note: Flammable items may come from the following sources: leaking hoses, tubes or gaskets, filling containers, soaked rags and contaminated debris.In order to avoid a fire, clean out any debris and paper from the following areas: back of the engine, front of the engine, top of the engine, sides of the engine and belly guards.
Illustration 2 g06059623Inspect the engine compartment for debris when you enter the machine and when you exit the machine. Open all of the engine compartment doors. Inspect the engine compartment for debris and leaks. In order to reduce the risk of a fire, clean out any debris and paper from the above areas. Use pressurized air from an air nozzle in order to blow out the engine compartment.
Illustration 3 g06059646Remove any trash buildup and debris. If necessary, lower the belly guards in order to fully clean the engine compartment. Be sure to clean any debris or cut any debris that may be in the axle or axle wrap area. Be sure that the wheel extensions are not rubbing on the frame. If there is debris that is packed in this area, remove the debris. Rubbing and packed debris may cause excessive heat or sparks.Ensure that all necessary repairs are performed before you operate the machine.Check all electrical wires and battery cables daily. Repair any wires that are loose or frayed before you operate the machine. Clean all electrical connections and tighten all electrical connections.Make sure that a fire extinguisher is on the machine. Make sure that you are familiar with the operation of the fire extinguisher. Inspect the fire extinguisher and service the fire extinguisher. Obey the recommendations on the instruction plate.Exhaust shields (if equipped) protect hot exhaust components from oil spray or fuel spray in case of a break in a line, in a hose, or in a seal. Exhaust shields must be installed correctly.
