If the machine begins to move, reduce the engine speed immediately and apply the service brake.
3. Reduce the engine speed, move the transmission to NEUTRAL. Stop the engine.
If the machine moved while testing the brakes, contact your Caterpillar dealer. Have the dealer inspect and, if necessary, repair the parking/secondary brakes before returning the machine to operation.

Inspect for Wear
Inspect the brake pads for excessive wear and system leakage. If repairs are necessary, contact your Caterpillar dealer and have the repairs made before returning the machine to operation.Air Dryer (If Equipped)
Drain Moisture and Sediment
1. Drain moisture and sediment from engine governor control reservoir (1), parking and secondary reservoir (2) and service brake/retarder reservoirs (3). 2. To drain reservoirs, open drain valves by lifting levers (1), (2) and (3). Allow moisture and sediment to drain. Close valves by returning levers to the down position.3. The desiccant cartridge should be rebuilt or replaced when it can no longer absorb water.4. Contact your Caterpillar dealer for repair kits and instructions.A small amount of moisture may be due to condensation in the system.Moisture may be present if an air dryer has been installed in a system that has been previously used without an air dryer. Several weeks may be needed to completely dry the system.Steering Cylinder Bearings
Lubricate Fittings
Lubricate two fittings on each cylinder. Total of four fittings.Steering Tie Rod and Pin Bearings
Lubricate Fittings

Position both wheels with the drain plug down. Remove the final drive fill plug.5. Maintain the lubricant level to the bottom of the fill plug opening. Clean and install the fill plugs.Main Frame
Inspect-Repair if Necessary
After each 250 service hours of operation, a more complete inspection should be made of the truck frame.To Inspect
When it is necessary to work under the truck with the body (bed) raised, install the body RETAINING PIN through the pin holes in the frame and body. 1. Raise the body (bed) and install the body retaining pins. 2. Clean the areas shown in the illustration, with a wire brush or scraper.3. Inspect all the areas for damage or cracks. If repairs are needed, contact your Caterpillar
