When reporting the repair, use "PI3316" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI3316" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the July 31, 1999 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Rework Procedure.

Rework Procedure
Group 1
The access point for the swing gear inspection cover is located under the main hydraulic valve and between the support plates for the boom-to-mainframe pin joint. Reference Illustration 2.
1. Remove the swing gear inspection cover. Reference Illustration 1.2. Add two grease cartridges or 1kg of grease to the swing gear compartment through the opening beneath the cover.3. Raise the boom and turn the upper carriage about 30 degrees. Lower the bucket to the ground. Stop the engine.4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until a total of 8 liters or 18 cartridges of grease have been added into the swing gear compartment.5. Inspect the inspection cover gasket and replace if necessary.6. Install the inspection cover.
