Oscillating Axle Cylinders (Axle Locked)
(1) Purge plug
(2) Check valve
(3) Solenoid valve
(4) Line to tank
(5) Pilot oil
(6) Control piston The oscillating axle is LOCKED when the oscillating axle solenoid valve is de-energized. The oscillating axle solenoid valve is de-energized when the oscillating axle button is in the ON position. Also, when the service brake pedal is in the fully depressed position, or when the left armrest is in the RAISED position. When the oscillating axle solenoid valve is de-energized, pilot oil is blocked at the pilot manifold. Also, the line to the oscillating axle cylinders is open to the tank. The check valves in the cylinder seat when the lines are open to the tank. When the check valves are seated, the oil in each cylinder is blocked in order to form a rigid axle with no oscillation. When the auto brake function is active, the oscillating axle will be LOCKED.Oscillating

(5) Pilot oil
(6) Control piston The oscillating axle is allowed to move when the oscillating axle solenoid valve is energized. The pilot pressure shifts the control pistons. The control pistons shift the rods in order to unseat the check valves. Oil flows freely from one cylinder to the other cylinder when the check valves are unseated. The oscillating axle solenoid valve has a manual backup that unlocks the axle. An accumulator is located between the cylinders in order to help dampen pressure spikes. Pressure spikes are a result of oscillation of the axle at faster ground speeds.
