The forward/neutral/reverse lever is intended to provide easier operation of the machine by reducing motion of the operator during the work cycle.Neutral Start
In order to start the machine, the following items must be in the neutral position:
The shift lever that is mounted on the column
The forward/neutral/reverse switch
Parking brakeMachine Operation
Once the machine is started, the neutral lamp should be on. The machine may be placed into gear either by using the shifter or the forward/neutral/reverse switch. In order to use the shifter, ensure that the forward/neutral/reverse switch is in the neutral position. Use the shifter to select the direction. The appropriate direction indicator should illuminate. In order to use the forward/neutral/reverse switch, place the shifter in neutral. Select the direction that is desired by using the forward/neutral/reverse switch. The appropriate direction indicator should illuminate.Special Operating Modes
The shifter must be in neutral in order to start the machine. The forward/neutral/reverse switch must be in neutral in order to start the machine. If either device is not in neutral the machine will not start and the neutral lamp will be OFF.The transmission will be placed in neutral if both the shifter and the forward/neutral/reverse switch indicate a state that is not neutral during operation. The neutral lamp will be OFF. Both the shifter and the forward/neutral/reverse switch must be placed in neutral before normal operation can resume.Indicator Lamps
The indicator lamps are Light Emitting Diodes. The majority of the additional circuits on the machine are needed to get correct operation of the indicator lamps. When both the shifter and the forward/neutral/reverse switch are in neutral, the shifter will output a neutral and a speed signal. The shift lever and the forward/neutral/reverse switch can give signals that conflict. The output of the shift lever is a signal that is neutral, but no speed signal. The relay of the forward/neutral/reverse switch is energized whenever there is any one of the 4 speed signals. When the neutral output is active, the output of the relay driver module is connected. The output is connected through the relay of the forward/neutral/reverse switch to the input of the indicator assembly.
