Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Tilt the operator platform. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Operator Platform - Tilt".
Tilt the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cab - Tilt".
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove bolt (2) and pin (1) that fastens steering cylinder (3) to the steering pivot.

Disconnect two hose assemblies (4) from steering cylinder (3) .
Disconnect the grease line from steering cylinder (3) .
Remove bolt (5) and pin (6). Remove steering cylinder (3) from the machine.Installation Procedure

Position steering cylinder (3) in the machine. Install pin (6) and bolt (5) .
Connect the grease line to steering cylinder (3) .
Connect two hose assemblies (4) to steering cylinder (3) .

Install pin (1) and bolt (2) that fastens steering cylinder (3) to the steering pivot.End By:
Lower the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cab - Tilt and Lower".
Lower the operator platform. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Operator Platform- Tilt and Lower".
Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
