Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Note: Verify that all of the components of the air control valve (service brake) are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.Note: Check all of the components and all of the O-ring seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Install O-ring seal (26) to inlet and exhaust valve (27) .
Position inlet and exhaust valve (27) to the air control valve.
Use Tooling (A) and install snap ring (28) in order to secure inlet and exhaust valve (27) to the air control valve.

Install large springs (17) and (21) to the air control valve.
Install O-ring seal (22) to piston (20) .
Install O-ring seal (18) to piston (16) .
Install the screw and retaining washer (19) to piston (16) .
Hold piston (20) and piston (16) firmly during installation. Install piston (20) and piston (16) to the air control valve.
Install spring (23), cover (24), and nut (25) to the air control valve. Hold the components firmly during installation.

Install O-ring seal (12) to the control valve group (9) .
Install inlet and exhaust valve (13) to control valve group (9) .
Install O-ring seal (11) to control valve group (9) .
Position valve exhaust elbow (14) to control valve group (9). Install four washers and four bolts (15) to valve exhaust elbow (14) .

Install bolts (10), the washers, and control valve group (9) to the air control valve.

Install plunger (7) and rubber boot (8) to bracket and brake valve plate (5) .

Position brass shim (4) and bracket and brake valve plate (5) to the air control valve.
Install bolts (6) and the washers that hold the assembly together.

Install lever (3), pin (2), and cotter pin (1) to the air control valve.End By: Install the air control valve (service brake). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Control Valve (Service Brake)" for the correct procedure.
