At operating temperature, the hydraulic lines are hot and under pressure. Before removing any lines, allow the machine to cool and bleed the pressure from the lines by slowly removing the caps from all of the hydraulic tanks. Hot hydraulic oil can cause severe personal injury.
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system as follows:a. Shut off the engine.b. Move the control levers through their full travel strokes. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the pilot system.c. Slowly loosen the air breather cap on the hydraulic oil tank to release the pressure.d. Tighten the air breather cap on the hydraulic oil tank.e. The pressure in the hydraulic system has now been released. Lines and components can now be removed. 1. Remove four oil lines (1) from the automatic speed change valve. 2. Remove three bolts (2) that hold the automatic speed change valve to the mounting bracket.3. Remove the automatic speed change valve.Install Automatic Speed Change Valve (Ejector)
1. Put automatic speed change valve (2) in position on the mounting bracket. Install bolts (1) that hold the automatic speed change valve in position. 2. Connect four oil lines (3) to the automatic speed change valve. Refer to the Topic "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities" in the "Operation and Maintenance Manual" for the proper filling procedure and the proper levels for the hydraulic system.Disassemble Automatic Speed Change Valve (Ejector)
Start By:a. remove automatic speed change valve (ejector) FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENTCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools and Shop Products Guide, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates. 1. Remove the bolts, cover (6), shims (4), springs (2) and (3) and retainer (1) from body group (7).2. Remove seal (5) from cover (6). 3. Remove the bolts, cover (8), block (10), piston (12) and stem (14) from body group (7).4. Remove seals (9), (11) and (13) from cover (8) and block (10). 5. Remove the bolts, valve group (7), spring (16) and stem (15) from valve group (18).6. Remove seals (17) and (19) from valve body (7). 7. Remove tube (20) from body group (17) and body group (23).8. Remove elbow (21) from body group (17).9. Remove the bolts, cover (24), body group (23), shims (22) and piston (26) from body group (17).10. Remove seals (27) and (25) from body group (23) and cover (24).Assemble Automatic Speed Change Valve (Ejector)
1. Inspect all seals of the speed control valve for wear or damage. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts as replacements. 2. Put the seal in position on elbow (2).3. Install elbow (2) on body group (7) until the elbow washer makes contact with the outside surface of the body group, and the seal
