Use Tooling (A) to install the inner lip seals and the outer lip seals in bracket (1) of the fuel transfer pump. Be certain that the lips of the seals are in the proper position. Apply clean engine oil on the lips of the seals.

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press to install bearings (2) in bracket (1) of the fuel transfer pump in one stroke. Install the bearings until the bearings are 1.5 mm (0.06 inch) below the surface of the plate. The inside diameter of the bearings must be 12.736 mm (0.5014 inch) after the installation.

Install sleeves (4) in bracket (1) of the fuel transfer pump.
Install O-ring seal (5) in casing (3) of the fuel transfer pump. Position casing (3) of the fuel transfer pump over sleeves (4) that are on bracket (1) of the fuel transfer pump.

Install gear (6) and shaft (7) in the bracket of the fuel transfer pump and in the casing of the fuel transfer pump.

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press to install bearings (8) in plate (9) in one stroke. Install the bearings until the bearings are 1.5 mm (0.06 inch) below the surface of the plate. The inside diameter of the bearings must be 12.736 mm (0.5014 inch) after the installation.

Install O-ring seal (10) in plate (9). Position plate (9) on the casing of the fuel transfer pump.

Use Tooling (A) to install the check valve in head (11). Install the check valve until the check valve contacts the shoulder in the bore. Before installation, be certain that the spring on the check valve faces the inside.Note: During the installation of head (11), be certain that the drain hole is open.

Position gasket (12) and head (11) of the fuel transfer pump on the plate. Install the two bolts that hold the fuel transfer pump together.

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install relief valve poppet (13) and spring (14). Install cap (15) and the seal washer on the fuel transfer pump.

Install O-ring seal (16) around the fuel transfer pump. Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seal.
Install drive coupling (17) on the shaft of the fuel transfer pump.End By: Install the fuel transfer pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Transfer Pump - Installation" for the correct procedure.
