The tailgate may move suddenly and without warning, resulting in personal injury or death.Insert tailgate locking pins before servicing or transporting machine.

Install tailgate locking pins (1) before you enter the area below the tailgate.

Shock Absorbers for the Tailgate
Remove shock absorbers (2) and shims (3). Reinstall the shock absorbers without the shims.
Remove the tailgate locking pins.
Start the engine and extend the ejector blade until the tailgate is fully open. Stop the engine.
Measure the clearance between the shock absorbers and the tailgate.
Add 5 1 mm (0.2 0.04 inch) to this measured distance and select the correct number of 169-4040 Shims to make up this thickness.Note: The two shock absorbers may require different amounts of shims.
Start the engine and retract the ejector blade. Ensure that the tailgate has fully closed and stop the engine.
Insert the tailgate locking pins.

Remove shock absorbers (2) and install shims (3) that have been selected behind the shock absorbers. Install the shock absorbers.
Remove the tailgate locking pins.
