2. Place identification marks on wires (1) and (2) as to their location on the starter. Disconnect the wires from the starter. 3. Remove three bolts (3) that hold starter motor (4) to the flywheel housing. Using two people, remove the electric starting motor and gasket from the flywheel housing. Weight of the starting motor is 32 kg (70 lb). Look at the condition of the teeth on the flywheel after the starter is removed. It may be necessary to use an engine rotation tool to inspect all teeth. If any teeth are excessively worn or missing it may be necessary to replace the flywheel. The following steps are necessary for the installation of the electric starting motor.4. Replace the gasket between the electric starting motor and the flywheel housing.5. Install the electric starting motor. Install three bolts and tighten to a torque of 43 7 N m (32 5 lb ft).6. Connect all wires to their proper locations, based on previous identification marks. Insure that all connections are clean and free of corrosion.7. Check all connections, connect the battery and turn the disconnect switch to the ON position. Start the machine several times to insure that all portions of the starter are working properly.
