Lightly lubricate the sealing lip of the lip type seal (3) with the lubricant that is being sealed.Use the following procedure to install bolts (1) and bolts (2) .
Install 251-6346 Spacer (9) into the non-engine end frame lower bearing cap.
Measure the gap (D) between the retainer plate and the surface of the upper boss at four locations. Average these four measurements in order to determine the shim thickness.
Remove the retainer plate. Then reassemble the retainer plate with the measured number of shims (4) . Tighten 12 bolts (1) to a torque of 460 60 N m (340 45 lb ft). Tighten eight bolts (2) to 900 100 N m (665 75 lb ft).
