The restriction to oil flow will cause a pressure increase. The increase in pressure will open the filter bypass. When oil bypasses the filter element, debris in the oil will cause damage to other system components. Correct maintenance must be used in order to make sure that the filter element remains clean. The filter is equipped with a drain (1). Drain (1) is used to drain the oil out of the filter before the filter element is changed. The filter has a pressure switch that monitors the oil pressure inside the filter. The pressure switch is a two-position switch. The pressure switch will send an input to the implement Electronic Control Module (ECM) when the filter is bypassing oil. The implement ECM will read inputs from the pressure switch in order to determine the status of the oil filter.Pilot Return Filter
