Disconnect ground strap (2).

Disconnect harness assembly (3) and remove the connecting hardware.

Disconnect grease hose assemblies (4). Note: The grease lines will remain connected to the electric motor. The new electric motor will have new grease lines.

Disconnect clips (5).

Disconnect cable assemblies (7). Disconnect harness assemblies (8) and remove the connecting hardware.

Disconnect clip (9) and hose assembly (10). Position hose assembly (10) out of the way. Note: The breather line will be reused for installation of the new electric motor.

Remove nuts (11), plate assembly (12), and seal (13). Repeat this step for the remaining seal.

If equipped with a slip type coupler. Remove bolt (14), washer (15), and spacer (16). Remove coupler (17).

Failure to follow the recommended procedure or the specified tooling that is required for the procedure could result in damage to components.To avoid component damage, follow the recommended procedure using the recommended tools.
Attach Tooling (A) to electric motor (18). The weight of electric motor (18) is approximately 4100 kg (9020 lb). Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS1075 for further explanation of the tooling involved during the removal procedure. Note: Only use the following hardware to install Tooling (A).

Remove bolts (20). Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lift truck to remove electric motor (18). The weight of electric motor (18) is approximately 4100 kg (9020 lb).

Secure the non-drive end of electric motor (18) to Tooling (A).

Install Tooling (B) and Tooling (C) before storing or transporting electric motor (18). Refer to Special Instruction , REHS7983, "Generator Storage and Rotation Requirements for AC Drive Motors used on Large Off-Highway Trucks" for installation instructions of the shipping brackets.
