start by: a) remove steering clutches1. Remove steering clutches from the bevel gear shaft. 2. Remove two bearing cages (1) and (2) from the bevel gear shaft. Check seal (3) on both cages for damage. If seals are worn, use new parts for replacement. 3. Remove bearing cup (4) and seal (5) from both cages. If seal is damaged or if bearing cup is worn, use new parts for replacement. 4. Use tooling (A) to remove the bearing cone (6) and thrower (7). 5. Remove twelve bolts (8) from bevel gear. 6. Use an arbor press and tool (B) to push shaft (9) out of the bevel gear. 7. Use tooling (A) to remove bearing cone (10) and thrower (11) from shaft.Assemble Bevel Gear And Shaft
1. Install three guide pins in the shaft. Use an arbor press and tool (A) to push the shaft into the bevel gear.2. Install the twelve bolts that hold the bevel gear to the shaft. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 220 20 lb.ft. (30.4 2.8 mkg). 3. Heat the two bearing cones (2) in oil to a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C). Install the bearing cones and throwers (1) on each side of bevel gear as shown. 4. Install seals (4) in both bearing cages with the lip of the seal facing the bearing cup.5. Install new seals (3) on both bearing cages. 6. Lower the temperature of bearing cups. Install the bearing cups (5) in the two bearing cages as shown.7. Put clean oil on the lip of the seals in both bearing cages. Put the bearing cages on the shaft.8. Install the steering clutches on the shaft.end by: a) install the steering clutches
