View of gap
(D) Friction clutch
(3) Centering tool
Loosen the centering tool (3) off one rotation after the friction clutch is seated. Be sure that there is a visible gap between the centering tool (3) and the friction clutch (D).
Illustration 66 g02118263
Remove the screw and the centering tool from the friction clutch housing.

(1) Loctite 242
(4) New mounting screw for the friction clutch
Apply Loctite 242 (1) to the full circumference of the first four to eight threads on the new mounting screw for the friction clutch (4). Remove any excess Loctite from the new mounting screw before installation. Hand tighten the new mounting screw into the friction clutch housing. Note: Be sure not to allow any of the Loctite to come in contact with the friction clutch.

View of the exposed shaft of the joystick
Pull the rubber boot over the joystick handle in order to expose the steel shaft and the white collar.
Illustration 69 g02109433
(J) White collar
Position the joystick handle all the way to the right hand surface that limits travel of the joystick while you are looking at the side of the joystick with the friction clutch. The white collar (J) should be in contact with the surface that limits the right travel of the joystick.

(10) Shim
Fit the 1.3 mm (0.05 inch) shim (10) into the friction clutch housing. Refer to Illustration 32 in order to find the correct orientation of the shim. The shim should touch the bottom of the friction clutch housing when the shim is in the correct position. Rotate the friction clutch clockwise until the friction clutch (D) contacts the shim (10).

(10) Shim
Carefully tighten the new mounting screw for the friction clutch (4). While you hold the joystick in the far right hand position, be sure that the friction clutch is pushed against the shim (10). Use tooling (14) and use tooling (16) in order to torque the new mounting screw for the friction clutch (4) to 2.7 0.45 N m (24 4 lb in). Note: Improper torque of the new mounting screw may lead to failures of the joystick control.

(11) Gauge pin
Remove the shim (10). Verify that the 0.76 mm (0.03 inch) gauge pin (11) fits between the friction clutch and the inside of the friction clutch housing when the joystick is at both extreme positions. The friction clutch should not touch the gauge pin when the joystick is in the left or the right position. It is critical that the joystick stops at the intended position and that the friction clutch does not contact the inside of the friction clutch housing. Refer to Illustration 72 and Illustration 73 in order to see the correct position for the gauge pin. Note: If any of the above tests fail, the friction clutch must be loosened by removing the new mounting screw for the friction clutch (4) and using the puller screw for the friction clutch
