Click "Comm Interfaces" on the left of the dialog to add information on the communication interfaces for the machine.
Assign "Comm Interfaces":
Click the "Add" button to add a new communication interface.
Click the "Type" drop-down list and select "Config" for FTP communications.
Click the "Type" drop-down list again, and select "Assignment" for Trimble Mincom Aquila Caterpillar (TMAC) communications. The user needs to select both "Config" and "Assignment". Files are sent to the machines using the FTP communications interface. The machines communicate with the office using TMAC messages, which require the Assignment interface.
Click the "Type" drop-down list again to choose "Machine Broadcast".This option would only be used if machine broadcasts are set to "Unicast". This setting is configured in Supervisor, and is set by default to Off, as broadcasting is in Multicast by default.
Click in the URL field and enter the interface URL in the format "ftp://<IP address>:<port number>/" or "tmac://<IP address>:<port number>".
Click "GPS Receiver" on the left of the dialog to add GPS information for the machine.
"GPS Receiver":
If you wish to overwrite the "GPS Receiver Position" you entered for the machine class, select the "Override GPS Receiver Position" check box.
Enter the "GPS Antenna X" and "Y" positions. This information is used by the on-board system to modify the GPS X and Y values calculated from the satellites.
Add button - To add a row to the table, click this icon.
Delete button - To delete a row from the table, click this icon. Satellite Receiver (GPS)
The "Override Class GPS Antenna Position" check box applies to the machine that the user is adding only. An example of when the user would select this check box is when adding a machine whose antenna is in a different position to the rest of the fleet. This selection saves the user from adding a new class for one machine. After selecting the check box, the user enters the GPS X and Y positions of the machine antenna. The user then clicks "Save".Troubleshooting
If there is a communication issue and the user needs to diagnose where the issue is, click either of the following selections:Ping - Click "Ping" to test the reachability of the machine on the network and the speed of the connection, measuring the round-trip time for messages sent from the computer to the machine.Trace - Click "Trace" to track the path that a packet takes to get from the computer to the machine address to check the communication with the machine and observe the results. A dialog displays showing the resultsEditing a Machine
