There have been reports of some engines that are leaking oil or coolant between the top deck of the cylinder head and the spacer plate gasket.Solution
Until a permanent repair is defined, use the existing 225-3101 Plate Gasket and apply 4C-9505 Gasket Sealant or Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket No. 3 Sealant to both sides of the spacer plate gasket. Ensure that you apply the gasket sealant evenly over the surfaces of the gasket. Install the gasket and assemble the engine. Remove all previous material from mating surfaces.
For best results, clean all surfaces and dry all surfaces with a solvent that is free of residue.
Remove the cap and apply with the applicator.
When the sealant is used as a dressing for the gasket, spread the product with a spatula to a uniform film on one side of gasket. Position the gasket on the assembly. Coat the second side of gasket and assemble. Formulas that dry more slowly increase the time for the procedure.
Once the repairs are completed and the sealant has had adequate time to cure, the engine can be run.Cleanup
The product can be removed from metal surfaces with isopropyl alcohol. If the sealant has been dried for a long time or at high temperatures, cover the sealant with alcohol and allow the sealant to soften overnight.
