Typical Example9. Remove the bolts and cover (19). Remove commutator ring (18), commutator (17) and washer (20) from under the commutator.

Take extra care to not loosen or damage the springs and vanes.
12. Remove outer rotor (25). Remove the vanes and spring from inner rotor (26). Remove the inner rotor.

1. Thoroughly clean all of the parts with solvent. Dry the parts with air. Inspect the parts for wear or damage. Replace as required.
Do not put oil on the parts before assembly. Keep the work area and all the parts clean.
Typical Example2. Install washer (2), the bearing and washer (1). Install the snap ring on shaft (3) with tool (A).

Make sure the actuator ball is in the ball seat and not in the through hole opposite the ball seat.
3. Install spring (6) on spool (4). Install actuator ball (5) in the ball seat.
Typical Example4. Install washer (wave spring) (7) over washer (2).5. Install the shaft in the spool so the actuator ball (5) is aligned with the groove in the shaft. 6. Slowly push in and turn the shaft in a counterclockwise direction until the washer on the shaft makes contact with the spool.
The spool must be in the "NEUTRAL" position before installing the drive ring into the spool. The drive ring may be installed incorrectly if the spool is not in the "NEUTRAL" position.
7. Using torsion bar (8) as a gauge, (position the bar between the washer and the spool), put the spool in the center of its movement. This is the "NEUTRAL" position
