Information:

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
The transmission oil filter is located behind an access plate on the left-hand side of the machine near the articulation joint.
Stop the engine and remove the key.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Remove the access plate that is between the rear axle and the articulation joint on the left-hand side of the machine.

Remove plug (1) from the bottom of the filter housing and allow the oil from the filter housing to drain into a suitable container.
Install the plug in the bottom of the filter housing when the oil is finished draining from the filter housing.
Use a socket or box end wrench on hexagon shaped forging (2) at the bottom of filter housing (3) to remove the filter housing.
Remove the used transmission oil filter element from the filter housing. Dispose of the used filter element properly.
Remove the o-ring seal from the groove at the upper end of the filter housing. Dispose of the used o-ring seal properly.
Clean the transmission filter housing in a clean, nonflammable solvent. Clean the filter housing base.
A new o-ring seal is included with the new transmission oil filter element. Install the new o-ring seal in the groove at the upper end of the filter housing.
Insert a new transmission oil filter element into the transmission filter housing.
Install the transmission filter housing into the filter housing base. Partially tighten the filter housing by hand.
Then, continue to tighten the transmission filter to a torque of 50 5 N m (37 3.7 lb ft) by using a socket or box end wrench on hexagon shaped forging (2).
Start the engine. Apply the service brakes.
Slowly operate the transmission controls in order to circulate the transmission oil. Return the transmission to NEUTRAL.
Engage the parking brake. Inspect the transmission oil filter for leaks.
Stop the engine.
Check the transmission oil level. Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transmission Oil Level - Check" for the correct procedure.
Install the access plate that was removed in step 3 above.
