There have been reports that some 345D Excavators that are equipped with the C13 engine have had leaks by the mounting bolts for the engine starter at the pump housing. The leak is usually visible from the flange of the starter housing and the pump housing. In some cases, the oil leak can result in a low oil level at the housing for the pump coupler.Solution

If an oil leak is found around the bolts over the cavities of the starter, remove the two bolts behind the starter at the pump housing. Clean the threads of the 8T-8916 Bolts and apply 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant around the threads. Place the machine on a level surface and check the level gauge at the pump coupler. If there is not enough oil, add a maximum of 0.6 L (0.63 qt) of 5P-2586 Oil in the pump coupler housing.
