Information:
This diagnostic code is associated with the 3 Function Auxiliary Thumbroller Control (Auxiliary Lever #3 Position Sensor). The FMI 13 is activated when the ECM has determined that the thumbroller needs calibration. The control receives power from the battery. The control sends a PWM input signal to the Implement ECM. The duty cycle of the signal varies from approximately 20 percent at the full forward position to approximately 80 percent at the full rearward position. When the thumbroller is at the center position, the duty cycle will be approximately 50 percent. The control is a PWM control that operates at a frequency of approximately 500 80 Hz.Note: Before performing this procedure, verify that no other CID 2206 diagnostic codes exist for the control. If any other diagnostic codes are active for the control, correct the problem before performing this procedure. Test Step 1. Perform the calibration procedure
Perform the calibration procedure for the control. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, KENR8914, "Calibration" for the correct calibration procedure. Expected Result:The calibration procedure was performed successfully. Results:
YES - The calibration procedure was performed successfully. Resume normal machine operation.STOP
NO - The calibration was not successful.Repair: Repeat the calibration procedure for the control. If the second calibration procedure is not successful, replace the control group. After the control group is replaced, perform the calibration again. If the problem is still present after replacement and calibration of the new control group, the ECM may have failed. An ECM failure is unlikely. Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, the ECM may have failed. Prior to replacing an ECM, always contact your technical communicator for possible consultation with Caterpillar. This consultation may greatly reduce repair time. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace".STOP
