Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine or release of air pressure or oil pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To help prevent possible injury before testing and adjusting any air system or hydraulic system, perform the procedure in the Testing and Adjusting, "General Information" section.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Tools That Are Required
8T-0858 Pressure Gauge
Illustration 1 g01147991
Pressure ports for checking the system pressure
(1) Pressure port (rear brakes)
(2) Pressure port (front brakes) Service Brake Pedal
Install a 0 to 16000 kPa (0 to 2300 psi) pressure gauge at pressure port (1).
Start the engine and permit the oil pressure to rise to the cutout pressure for the accumulators.
With the engine at high idle, fully push the service brake pedal and check the reading on the pressure gauge. When the service brake pedal is depressed, the correct brake pressure is 10350 350 kPa (1500 50 psi).
Remove the pressure gauge from pressure port (1) and install the pressure gauge at pressure port (2). Repeat Step 2 through Step 3. Note: The oil pressure at pressure port (1) and at pressure port (2) should be similar. If the pressures at both locations are not similar, there may be a malfunctioning check valve, a loose fitting, or a damaged hydraulic line.
Stop the engine.
Remove the pressure gauge. Left Pedal
Use the left pedal and perform Steps 1 through 5.When the left pedal is depressed, the correct brake pressure is 10350 350 kPa (1500 50 psi).
