Remove the transmission. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission - Remove". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Drain the oil from the tandem housing. The capacity of the tandem housing for the 143H is 64 L (16.9 US gal). The capacity of the tandem housing for the 163H is 64 L (16.9 US gal).
Drain the oil from the power train system into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Block the front wheels with Tooling (A).

Use Tooling (B) in order to raise the case and frame (1).
Install Tooling (C) under the case and frame (1).

Disconnect hose assembly (2).

Install Tooling (D) on tandem (3).

Install Tooling (E) on wheels (4).
Attach Tooling (F) and a suitable lifting device to Tooling (E) and Tooling (D).
Remove nuts (5). Remove tandem assembly (6). The weight of tandem assembly (6) is approximately 1588 kg (3500 lb).
Repeat steps six through ten for the opposite side.

Disconnect harness assembly (7). Remove bolts (8) and valve (9). Remove clamps (10) and remove hose assembly (11). Disconnect hose assembly (12). Remove yoke (13). Remove two nuts (14).

Attach Tooling (G) to differential (15). Remove nuts (16) and remove differential (15).

Attach Tooling (H) and a suitable lifting device to differential (15). Remove Tooling (G) and remove differential (15). The weight of differential (15) is approximately 227 kg (500 lb).
