Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the hydraulic tank into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change". Note: In addition to the weight of the bottom guard, bottom guards may contain approximately 90 kg (200 lb) of the following objects: loose bolts, tools, rocks, dirt, liquids and debris.

Use Tooling (A) to support middle bottom guard (1). The weight of middle bottom guard (1) is approximately 35 kg (77 lb). Remove the bolts and middle bottom guard (1).

Remove engine side guard (1A) on the right side of the machine.

Hydraulic block (2) is bolted to the inside of the main frame just below the starting motor.

Remove hose assemblies (3) and (5).
Remove bolt (10) that secures tube assemblies (6) and (8) to the inside of the main frame in order to gain clearance for the removal of swivel tee (4). Remove swivel tee (4) from hydraulic block (2).
Remove tube assembly (8) and hose assembly (9).
Remove bolts (7) and remove hydraulic block (2).
