Engines In All ApplicationsDescription of Change: The above engines have an improved fuel injection nozzle assembly. The new nozzle assembly has increased clearance between the guide and the stem. The added clearance results in easier movement of the inside components, and prevents binding (seizure) of the components. The result is a more constant valve opening pressure (VOP). The test specifications for the new nozzle assembly are the same as for the former nozzle assembly.
Adaptable To: The new 1W5829 Nozzle Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 9N3979 Nozzle Assembly which is canceled. It is not a replacement for the 9L6969 Nozzle Assembly which was used on engines before 1979. The new nozzle assembly is in effect with the engine serial numbers shown.
