FUEL PUMP HOUSING AND GOVERNOR 9L7104 - Caterpillar

1. Remove nuts and bolts (1). Remove clutch cover (2). 2. Loosen nut (4). Loosen bolt (3) until the tension on the drive chain is released. 3. Remove access cover (6). Remove cotter pins (7) to remove master link cover (8). Remove master link.4. Remove drive chain (5) from gear. 5. Bend back the lock (11) and remove two bolts (12). Remove washer (10). Remove sprocket (9) from shaft. 6. Fasten a hoist to the reverse gear box, remove three nuts and remove reverse gear box (13) from the studs. Weight of the gear box is 100 lb. (45.4 kg).Install Reverse Gear Box
1. Put the reverse gear box (2) in position on the studs with a hoist. Install nuts (1). Do not tighten nuts (1) until there is an adjustment made to the drive chain. 2. Install sprocket (8) on shaft. Install washer (6), two bolts (5) and lock (7) on sprocket. Bend lock over bolts.3. Put drive chain (3) in position on sprocket. Install master link (4), master link cover and cotter pins. Make an adjustment to the tension of drive chain. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE.4. After the adjustment is made, tighten nuts (1). 5. Install clutch cover (9) and the nuts and bolts (10) that hold it.end by:a) install clutch and driveDisassemble Reverse Gear Box
start by:a) remove reverse gear box 1. Remove plug (2) and drain the oil from the reverse gear box.2. Remove nuts (3) and washers from studs, then remove adapter plate (1). 3. Remove yoke (4) from retainer. Remove bolts (6), then remove retainer (5) from reverse gear box. 4. Remove seal (7) and gasket (8) from retainer. 5. Remove bolts (12) and cover (9). After cover (9) is removed, remove bolts (10) and cover (11). 6. Remove bearings (13) from cover (9) with tool group (A). 7. Remove gear and shaft assemblies (14) from housing. 8. Install tool (B) on either one of the gear and shaft assemblies.9. Push shaft out of the gear with a press.10. Remove bearing race.11. Use Steps 8 through 10 for the other gear and shaft assembly. 12. Remove four bolts (15), then remove cover (17). Remove seal (16) from cover (17). Remove bolts (18), then remove cap (19). 13. Turn housing over and remove bearings (20) from housing with tool group (A).Assemble Reverse Gear Box
1. Install bearing in housing with tool group (A). Let bearing extend approximately .016 in. (0.41 mm) beyond the face of the bore. Cap (1) will put bearing in position when the bolts (2) are tightened. 2. Install cap (1). Put 9S3263 Thread Lock on the threads of the bolts (2). Install and tighten the bolts.3. Install the other bearing in the housing with tool group (A). 4. Install seal in cover (3) with tool group (A). Install seal with the lip toward the inside of the cover. Install cover (3) on housing with the bolts that hold it. 5. Heat bearing races (4) to a temperature of 275°F (135°C) and
