A 8T-0914 Flywheel Guide Pin 2
B 138-7573 Link Bracket 2 Start By:
Remove the damper guard group. Note: This removal procedure is for vibration dampers that have an accessory module in position.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: If the accessory module is in the way and overhead lifting can not be done, the following procedure can be used to remove the vibration dampers. The configuration of the engine must allow the vibration damper to be removed from the front of the engine.
Illustration 1 g00610080
Use a 2250 kg (5000 lb) lift truck with a boom extension. Be sure that the boom extension is properly anchored to the lift truck.
Use the sleeve (1) to pilot the removal of the vibration damper.
Illustration 2 g00610082
This is an Illustration of a single vibration damper.
Remove two of the bolts that hold the vibration damper (2) in position and install Tool (A).
Use the lift truck and move the sleeve (1) into position in the center of the vibration damper.
Remove the remaining bolts that hold the vibration damper in place.
Install Tool (B) on the vibration damper. Fasten a chain from the lift truck to Tool (B) in order to hold the vibration damper and the sleeve (1) on the lift truck boom.
Carefully move the vibration damper off the guide pins. Carefully maneuver the vibration damper in order to move the damper away from the accessory module.
Illustration 3 g00610083
Remove the vibration damper (2) from the lift truck. The weight of a narrow vibration damper is approximately 288 kg (639 lb). The weight of a wide vibration damper is approximately 402 kg (882 lb).
Remove the spacer from the front of the crankshaft.
