Enter the "Service" menu. Press the up key or down key until "Diagnostic" is highlighted. Then press the "OK" key.Note: Each time the Service menu is entered and the dealer password has not yet been entered, an entry password is requested. With the owner password only the ECM Information sub menu is displayed. All other sub menus require the dealer password.The "Diagnostic" menu contains the following menu options:

Select the "Active Errors" item in the menu to check the status of active machine and engine errors. Dealer password is required.

If there are more than five errors active, use the Up or Down key to scroll through all entries.Each error is displayed in the following manner:
MID: CID - FMIMID - Module Identifier (Name of the module in which the error has occurred.)CID - Component Identifier (Name of the component that recognized the error.)FMI - Failure Mode Identifier
To view the "Logged Errors" screen, press the return button to return to the Diagnostics menu. Then highlight "Logged Errors" and press the "OK" button. If there are more than five errors active, use the Up or Down key to scroll through all entries.Logged errors are display in the same format as active errors. If no errors have been logged, an empty page is shown.
Press the return button to return to the Diagnostics menu.

Connect Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) service tool to the ET port on the machine.
Turn the key switch to the RUN position.
Start the Cat ET software on the laptop. Cat ET will initiate communications with the Electronic Control Modules (ECM) on the machine. After communication has been established, Cat ET will list the ECM''s that are used on the machine.

From the "File" menu, choose "Select ECM". Choose the desired ECM to view the diagnostic codes associated with that ECM.

Choose from either "Active Diagnostic Codes" or "Logged Diagnostic Codes".

The logged diagnostic code screen includes the CID, FMI, and a text description of the code.
