Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
7. Check the DEF Pressure Line
A. Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position. Allow 2 minutes to elapse before proceeding.
B. Visually inspect the DEF pressure lines for leaks or damage.
C. Remove the DEF pressure line between the DEF pump and the affected DEF injector. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly manual for additional information.
D. Inspect the DEF pressure line for obstructions. Flush the line with water or low-pressure air, if necessary.
Note: Possible obstructions are ice, DEF deposits, or debris.
Restriction, Obstructions, and Leaks
Result: An obstruction was not found.
Proceed to Test Step 8.
Result: An obstruction was found.
Repair: Flush or replace the line.
Proceed to Test Step 9.
8. Replace the Affected DEF Injector
A. Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.
B. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly manual for additional information.
Note: Do not install the new injector until Test Step 7 has been completed.
DEF Injector
Result: The DEF injector was replaced.
Proceed to Test Step 9.
9. Perform the "DEF Dosing System Accuracy Test"
A. Connect Cat ET.
B. Select the appropriate DCU.
C. Use Cat ET to perform the following diagnostic test on the appropriate DEF injector:
- Aftertreatment DEF Dosing Injector Accuracy Test""
Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "DEF Dosing System Accuracy Test" for additional information.
Test
Result: The amount of DEF collected is within the desired range (minimum 170 ml and maximum 190 ml).
Proceed to Test Step 10.
Result: The amount of DEF collected on one or more injectors was above 190 ml. A failed DEF injector has been detected.
Repair: Replace the DEF pump supplying the DEF injector that is logging the code. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly manual for additional information.
Proceed to Test Step 10.

10. Perform an "Aftertreatment Dosing System Functional Test"
A. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
B. Connect Cat ET.
C. Select the "Selective Catalyst Reduction System".
D. Use Cat ET to perform the following diagnostic test:
-"Aftertreatment Dosing System Functional Test"
Refer to Troubleshooting, "Cat ET Service Features" for additional information.
Note: When the test prompts to proceed to clear active diagnostics, select ACCEPT.
Test
Result: The test was successful.
Return to service.
