Remove the ripper lift cylinders. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Ripper Lift Cylinder - Remove".
Personal injury or death can result from improper lifting or blocking.When a hoist or jack is used to lift any part or component, stand clear of the area. Be sure the hoist or jack has the correct capacity to lift a component. Install blocks or stands before performance of any work under a heavy component.Approximate weights of the components are shown. Clean all surfaces where parts are to be installed.
Note: If necessary, perform Steps 1 and 2 in order to remove the hose assemblies from the back of the machine. If it is not necessary to remove the hose assemblies from the back of the machine, perform Step 3 through Step 20 in order to remove the ripper.

Remove bolts (1) and mounting brackets (2) .

Remove tees (3) and (4) and remove the hose assemblies and the bracket as a unit, if necessary.

Use suitable blocking in order to support the carriage assembly. The weight of the carriage assembly is approximately 317 kg (700 lb).
Use a suitable lifting device in order to support link (6) .
Remove the bolts and pin retainers (8). Remove pin (5) and pin (7).
Remove link (6) .
Repeat Step 5 on the other side of the ripper carriage.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to ripper carriage (9A). Use Tooling (B) in order to support link assembly (10) .
Remove the blocking from the carriage assembly.
Remove the retaining bolt and pin (9) .
Repeat Step 10 for pin (9) on the other side of the ripper carriage.
Remove ripper carriage (9A). The weight of the ripper carriage and the shank assemblies is approximately 317 kg (700 lb).

Attach a suitable lifting device to link assembly (10) .
Remove the retaining bolt and pin (11) .
Repeat Step 14 for pin (11) on the other side of the link assembly.
Remove link assembly (10) from the mounting brackets. The weight of the link assembly is approximately 79 kg (174 lb).

Attach a suitable lifting device to mounting bracket (12). Remove the bolts and the washers from the mounting bracket.
Remove mounting bracket (12). The weight of mounting bracket (12) is approximately 41 kg (90 lb).
Repeat Step 17 and Step 18 with the other mounting bracket.

Remove ripper shank assembly (13) from the ripper carriage. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Ripper - Inspect\Replace".
