337-5270 Coreless Filter Element Transmission oil filter groups using 337-5270 Coreless Oil Filter Element have a center support tube threaded and torqued to the bottom of the filter canister. This reusable center tube should not be removed during element service. The 337-5270 Coreless Oil Filter Element must always be installed over the tube. Refer to the information below to ensure proper installation of the 337-5270 Coreless Oil Filter Element.

Coreless filter element removal step two Refer to Illustration 3 and Illustration 4 for removing 337-5270 Coreless Oil Filter Element. The 337-5270 Coreless Oil Filter Element has o-rings at the top and bottom and will pull out as shown in Illustration 4.Note: Do not attempt to unscrew or rotate the coreless filter element. Pull the element away from the canister as shown in Illustration 4 to remove.

Incorrect appearance of element in canister without center tubeThe black center support tube will remain fixed to the bottom of the canister as shown in Illustration 1. The center tube is fixed to the canister and the center tube should not be removed.The 337-5270 Coreless Oil Filter Element should always be inserted over the fixed center support tube. Refer to Illustration 5 and Illustration 6 to ensure proper installation.Note: The black center support tube can be seen inside the filter element in Illustration 5.Note: Do not put 337-5270 Coreless Oil Filter Element into service without the support tube inside the filter canister.
