2. If internal transmission or driveline failure is suspected, remove the axle shafts.Refer to your Elphinstone dealer or to the Service Manual for your machine for axle shaft removal and installation procedures.3. Dump the bucket load if possible.4. Fasten the tow bar.5. Release the parking brake.
Release the parking brake to prevent excessive wear and damage to the parking brake system, when towing without brake oil pressure. The procedure for the manual release of the parking brake is outlined in the next topic, Manual Release of Parking Brake.
6. Remove the wheel blocks. Tow the machine slowly. Do not tow any faster than 2 km/h (1.2 mph).

Manual Release of Parking Brake
SMCS Code: 4267; 7000
Certain Elphinstone machines may be equipped with an optional Automatic Brake Application (ABA) system. The ABA system warns the operator of an impending brake application (low transmission oil pressure) and applies the parking brake if the pressure further decreases, e.g. engine stalled. If your machine is equipped with the optional ABA system, a loop wire needs to be connected to the wiring harness of the ABA low transmission oil pressure switch to enable the brake release function to operate.
The machine batteries must be fully charged for operation of the brake release motor. If battery charge is low, connect an external 24 volt supply. Perform Steps 1 and 7 of the following procedure only to machines fitted with the optional Automatic Brake Application (ABA) system.1. Disconnect the transmission wiring harness from 6T6652 Switch (1) at the wiring connector. Connect loop wire (2) between the EL331 blue wire and the EL330 grey wire of the transmission harness as shown.2. Turn the battery disconnect switch ON.3. Turn the engine start switch to the ON position. 4. Move brake release switch (3) to the ON position to activate the brake release motor. The brake oil pressure indicator will go out when the brake system has full oil pressure. 5. When the brake system has full oil pressure, move parking brake control knob (4) to the OFF position to release the brakes. The parking brake indicator on the CMS panel should go out when the brakes are released.6. Hold brake release switch (3) in the activated (ON) position until towing is completed.
The service brakes can be used to stop the machine when the machine has brake oil pressure. Use the service brakes to control the machine when the machine is being towed.
7. Remove the loop wire and reconnect the wiring connectors of the low transmission oil pressure switch and the transmission wiring harness.
Inspect the machine thoroughly. Remove the loop wire (if fitted) and repair any damage before returning the machine to operation.
