PRIORITY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR REWORKING THE AIR COMPRESSOR ON CERTAIN 793F AND 797F OFF-HIGHWAY TRUCKS

Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
The Air Compressor needs to be reworked on the products listed below. The existing compressor can over pressurize resulting in a bottom end failure of the compressor and contaminating the engine oil. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 10Feb2011 when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.

Rework Procedure
1. Remove plug (Image 1.1.1) and install the 124-5572 Pressure Relief Valve. Torque Valve to 30 Nm +/- 3 Nm (22 ft/lb +/- 2 ft/lb).

2. Remove Governor and inspect unloader port (image 1.2.1)
3. Remove plug (if installed)
4. Install governor using new 6L-1883 Gasket. Torque bolts to 17 Nm +/- 2 Nm (13 ft/lb +/- 2 ft/lb).
