Information:
Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "System Schematic" for details on this relay. This diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM reads the current of the Cab Key Disable Relay circuit as being below normal range (open circuit).Note: This diagnostic code will only appear active when the Manual Override switch in the cab is in the Manual position.Note: This procedure can cause new diagnostic codes to be recorded. Ignore these created diagnostic codes. Complete the following procedure. Then clear the created diagnostic codes.Test Step 1. CHECK THE RELAY.
Turn the Manual/Remote Mode switch on the Ground Level Service Center to the Manual position.
Locate and remove the Cab Key Disable Relay from the Remote Control Electrical Center (relay box).
Measure the resistance between contact 86 and 85 of the relay. Expected Result:The resistance is approximately 5 ohms. Results:
YES - The resistance is approximately 5 ohms. The relay is good. Proceed to test step 2.
NO - The resistance is greater than 5000 Ohms.Repair: The relay has failed. Replace the relay.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE RELAY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN.
The Manual/Remote Mode switch remains in the Manual position.
Disconnect the Gray and Black Connectors of the Remote Control Harness from the Remote Control Electrical Center (relay box).
Place the Manual/Remote Mode switch in the Remote position.
On the harness side, measure the voltage at contact A of the Gray Connector and contact F of the Black Connector. Expected Result:The voltage is approximately 12 VDC.Results:
YES - The voltage is approximately 12 VDC. The machine harness is correct. Proceed to test Step 3.
NO - The voltage is less than 12 VDC There is an open circuit in the machine harness.Repair: The open circuit is in the signal wire R131-RD(Red) or in return wire 959-WH(White) of the Remote Control harness. Repair the Remote Control harness or replace the Remote Control harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REMAINS.
The contacts of the harness connectors should be cleaned and the harness connectors should be inspected.
Reinstall Relay in the Remote Control Electrical Center (relay box).
Reconnect all of the Remote control harness connectors.
Turn the Manual/Remote Mode switch to the Remote position.
Turn the Manual Override switch to the Manual position.
Clear all of the inactive diagnostic codes.
Use Cat ET to verify the diagnostic is no longer active. Expected Result:The diagnostic code is NO longer active. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code is NO longer active. The diagnostic code does not exist at this time. The initial diagnostic code was probably caused by a poor electrical connection or a short at one of the harness connectors that was disconnected and reconnected. Resume normal machine operation.STOP
NO - The diagnostic code has not been corrected. The ECM may have failed, however ECM failure is unlikely.Repair: Exit this procedure and perform this diagnostic code again. Recheck the status of the diagnostic code. Replace the ECM if the cause is not found. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace".STOP
