Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
Test Step 1. Check the Manual Override Switch Position.
A. Ensure that the Manual Override Switch is in the REMOTE or OFF position.
The Manual Override switch is in the REMOTE or OFF position. OK – The Manual Override switch is in the REMOTE position.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
Not OK – The Manual Override Switch is in the MANUAL position.
Repair: Place the Manual Override switch in the REMOTE position. Then turn the Manual/ Remote Switch on the Ground Level Service Center to the MANUAL position then back to the REMOTE position. The Blue lights on the ROPS should now be on solid.
STOP.
Test Step 2. Check the Operation of the Manual Override Switch.
A. Turn the Machine Disconnect Switch to the OFF position.
B. Locate the connector for the Manual Override Switch under the right-hand console in the cab of the machine.
C. Disconnect the remote control harness from the connector of the Manual Override Switch.
D. Check the resistance between the contacts at the connector of the Manual Override Switch.
Refer to Tables 1 and 2.
The resistance measurements are in accordance with Tables 1 and 2. OK – The resistance measurements are in accordance with Tables 1 and 2.
Proceed to Test Step 3.
Not OK – The Manual Override switch has failed.
Repair: Replace the Manual Override switch.
Note: Once the switch has been replaced, you will need to turn the Manual/Remote Mode Switch on the Ground Level Service Center to the Manual position. Then turn the switch back to the REMOTE position in order to reactivate the Remote Control system.
STOP.
Test Step 3. Check the Fuses.
A. Reconnect the Manual Override Switch.
B. Turn the Machine Disconnect Switch to the OFF position.
C. Locate the Fuse Panel in the Cab of the machine.
D. Check the condition of the Navigator fuse and the Unswitched Auxiliary fuses.
Refer to Illustration 1.
The fuses are good. OK – The fuses are good.
Proceed to Test Step 4.
Not OK – One or both of the fuses are blown.
Repair: Investigate the power circuits for the blown fuse to ensure that there is not a short circuit or too many third-party electronics powered by the circuits being utilized. Then replace the blown fuse or fuses.
STOP.
Test Step 4. Check for 24 VDC at the Manual/Remote Mode Switch.
A. Turn the Machine Disconnect Switch to the ON position.
B. Remove the cover from the Ground Level Service Center to gain access to the Manual/Remote Mode Switch and harness connectors for the switch.
C. At the connector of the remote control harness check the voltage between contact 1 ( 131-RD(Red)) and contact 5 (J842-BK(Black)).
The voltage between contact 1 (131-RD(Red)) and contact 5 (J842-BK(Black)) is approximately 24 VDC. OK – The voltage between contact 1 ( 131-RD(Red)) and contact 5 (J842-BK(Black)) is approximately 24 VDC.
Proceed to Test Step 5.
Not OK – The voltage between contact 1 ( 131-RD(Red)) and contact 5 (J842-BK(Black)) is NOT approximately 24 VDC.
