Component Code(s) 1353SUBJECT: Alteration may be required to fit new radiator.
PROBLEM:
The 4Q-5026 radiator that was used on 12G, 130G and 140G motor graders has been cancelled and replaced by 228-0555. The service replacement radiator 228-0555 may not fit properly in all applications. The square ends on the radiator tank may interfere with the installation of the radiator guard.
Note: It is possible to receive a 228-0555 Radiator in packaging that is labeled 4Q-5026 Radiator. Check the part number on the actual radiator to verify the type.
SOLUTION:
Slotting the support bracket assemblies for the radiator will eliminate the interference. The following procedure will explain how to modify the bracket assemblies to allow the radiator to be lowered in order to clear the radiator guard.
Procedure to alter the support bracket assemblies:
Note: Do NOT perform this procedure before verifying that the 228-0555 radiator does not fit properly.
Note: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR3648, "Radiator and Guard" for instructions to remove or install the radiator and "Radiator Core and Hydraulic Oil Cooler" for instructions to remove the radiator from the guard.

(2A) 11.11 mm (0.438 inch (7/16")) Hole
(A) Additional 14.29 mm (.563 inch (9/16")) to be removed
1. Increase the slot size in each (2) 2P-0226 Bracket to a total size of 25.400 mm (1.00 inch (1")) by removing (A) 14.29 mm (.563 inch (9/16")) of metal as shown in the illustration above.

(B) Additional 12.7 mm (.50 inch 1/2)) to be removed
2. Increase the slot size in each (3) 2P-5190 Bracket As. To a total size of 25.4 mm (1.00 inch (1")) by removing (B) 12.7 mm (.50 inch (1/2")) of metal as shown in the illustration above.
3. Replace the radiator while ensuring that the radiator is allowed to drop approximately 12.7 mm (0.50 inch (1/2")) from its original position.
