Remove ice, snow or other slippery material from shipping machine and loading dock, before loading the machine.
1. Block the trailer or rail car wheels before loading.2. Set the blade lengthwise under the machine. Lower all raised equipment. Move the transmission control lever to NEUTRAL. Engage the parking brake.3. Install the wheel lean lock pin.4. Install the frame lock pin.5. Block the wheels and secure the machine with tie-downs.6. Cover the exhaust opening to prevent turbocharger "windmilling" in transit.7. Tip or cover the seat to protect the cushion.8. Turn the key start switch off and remove the key.9. Lock all possible compartments.10. In freezing weather, make certain that the cooling system is protected with antifreeze to the lowest expected outside temperature or is drained completely.11. Check regulations covering the transportation of cylinders containing compressed gas (blade accumulator).Roading
Inspect the machine thoroughly before roading.When roading, reduce the ground speed before downshifting.
Be sure the centershift lock pin lever is in the INDEX and RUN position. 1. Measure the engine crankcase oil level. Maintain the oil level between the ADD and FULL marks on the ENGINE RUNNING side of the dipstick. 2. Measure the transmission and differential oil level. With the engine running at LOW IDLE and at operating temperature, maintain the oil level to the FULL mark on the dipstick. 3. Measure the tandem drive housing's oil level. Add oil if necessary. 4. Measure the fuel level. Add fuel if necessary. 5. Observe the engine coolant level. Maintain the coolant level above the level indicator plate in the bottom of the fill pipe.6. Measure the tire inflation pressure. Inspect the tires for damage. See "Tire Inflation Information."7. Clean the windshield, side and rear glass.8. Clean all lights and reflectors.9. Make certain the headlights, taillights, turn signals and hazard warning lights function properly.10. Make certain that the steering functions properly.11. Make certain the brakes function properly.12. Make certain all the controls, indicators and gauges function properly.13. Have a fire extinguisher, flares and safety reflectors with the machine.14. Obey all traffic regulations.15. If any of the indicators come on, stop the machine. Investigate and correct the cause.16. Stop every 80 km (50 miles) or 2 hours, for 30 minutes. Inspect the machine and allow the machine parts to cool.17. When traveling long distances, lubricate the machine at recommended intervals.18. If necessary to leave the machine unattended: a. Lower the blade and implements.b. Move the transmission control lever to NEUTRAL.c. Engage the parking brake.d. Pull the accelerator up past the detent to stop the engine. Turn the key start switch to OFF and remove key.e. At night, set out flares and/or safety reflectors.
