3208, 3304, 3306, 3406, 3408, And 3412 Packaged Generator Sets With Type 5 Control PanelThe above engines are equipped with a 70 second time delay relay (TDR). This TDR is used to make sure the engine stops completely when it is shut down. On the above engines the TDR activates the oil pressure shutoff switch for 70 seconds after the engine is shut down. During the 70 seconds after shutdown, if the engine is started again, it will get a signal of low oil pressure and shut down again.
In some applications the 70 second delay is not desired. To prevent this 70 second delay, the wire to Terminal 3 of the TDR must be disconnected and the end taped to prevent contact. Then connect a wire from Terminal 3 to Point 4 on the terminal strip in the generator terminal box. See the illustration.
