The article below is updated with new part numbers.Description of Change: New cylinder head groups and assemblies are used for all engines that are listed above. The new head groups and assemblies include nitrocarburization of the valve seat inserts on the intake and exhaust valves. The nitrocarburization coating reduces the recession of the valves. Note: No machining is allowed on the installed valve seat inserts or the coating will be removed.Adaptable To: The new basic cylinder head groups and assemblies are now used for top end overhauls and for major overhauls on the engines that are listed above. The new basic cylinder groups and assemblies may be used individually in replacement of the former basic cylinder head groups and assemblies. The former cylinder head groups and the new cylinder head groups are listed in Table 1 and in Table 2. The part numbers of the former valve seat inserts and the new valve seat inserts are listed in Table 3. Table 4 lists the serial number effectivity of the new cylinder head groups.
