--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------Description of Change: A new 3-micron fuel filter is available and is currently used in some selected Industrial Engine applications. This new filter removes much smaller dirt particles than the former fuel filter. This helps reduce internal wear of the unit injectors. Worn unit injectors can result in hard starting of a hot engine. The new fuel filter has a different thread size and requires a new filter base. Also, a new fuel pressure relief (fuel bypass) valve is installed to limit fuel transfer pump pressure. The new relief valve directs excess fuel back to the tank.Adaptable To: The new 3-micron fuel filter and fuel pressure relief valve are adaptable to most 3114 and 3116 Industrial, Marine, and Generator Set Engines, except those which have a remote mounted fuel filter. A remote mounted filter base with the correct thread size for the new filter is not available at this time. The components identified in the chart are required to update earlier engines. Installation Procedure
1. Remove 7E-6288 or 7W-0032 Tube Assembly (1) from the fuel transfer pump to fuel filter base. Remove the 6V-8724 Elbow (2) in the fuel filter base. Remove the existing fuel filter base and fuel filter. For earlier engines which have 7W-0032 Tube Assembly (1) and 6V-8724 Elbow (2) as
