Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the crankshaft assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft - Remove" for the correct procedure.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Crankshaft Main Bearings
Ensure that the bearing caps are marked for orientation and the correct position.

Remove bolts (1) and upper main bearing cap (2) from lower main bearing cap (6).
Remove upper main bearing cap (2) from lower main bearing cap (6) from the crankshaft.
Remove upper main bearing shell (4) from upper main bearing cap (2).
Remove lower main bearing shell (5) from lower main bearing cap (3).
Repeat Step 2 through Step 5 in order to remove the remaining main bearing.

For the rear main bearing cap assembly, remove bolts (6) and upper main bearing cap (7) from lower main bearing cap (8).
Remove upper main bearing cap (7) from lower main bearing cap (8) from the crankshaft.
Remove upper main bearing shell (10) from upper main bearing cap (7).
Remove thrust washer (9) upper main bearing cap (7). Note the orientation of the thrust washer.
Remove lower main bearing shell (11) from lower main bearing cap (8).
Remove thrust washer (13) and thrust washer (14) from lower main bearing cap (8). Note the orientation of the thrust washers.
Do not remove dowels (12) from the main bearing caps. Crankshaft Bearing (Front)

Use Tooling (A) to remove crankshaft bearing (15) from the cylinder block.
Start By:
Remove the crankshaft assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft - Remove" for the correct procedure.

Repeat Step 2 through Step 5 in order to remove the remaining main bearing.
