Implement ECM 2The Series 24M Motor Graders are equipped with an implement system that is electronically controlled and hydraulically actuated. The machine is equipped with fully electronic left and right joysticks. The joysticks enable the operator to send commands to the Implement Electronic Control Modules (ECMs). The Implement ECMs control the following hydraulic systems:Blade Control system - The Blade Control system uses operator input from the left joystick and operator input from the right joystick.Blade Constant Downforce system - The Blade Constant Downforce system uses operator input from the Blade Constant Downforce Enable switch. Primary Steer system - The Primary Steer system uses operator input from the left joystick.Machine Articulation system - The Machine Articulation system uses operator input from the left joystick.Front Wheel Lean system - The Front Wheel Lean system uses operator input from the left joystick. In order to control the systems, all machines are equipped with two Implement ECMs. The Implement ECMs are mounted on the aft wall of the operator compartment. The two Implement ECMs and the functions of the Implement ECMs are listed below.

Implement 1 and 2 ECMs (view: looking to rear of cab with seat removed) (1) Implement ECM (2) Implement ECM 2Implement ECM (MID 082) - Implement ECM is the main Implement ECM. The Implement ECM is mounted on the right side of the aft wall of the operator compartment. All diagnostic codes are activated by this Implement ECM under the module identifier MID 082. The other Implement ECMs communicate diagnostics over the SAE J1939 data link to the Implement ECM which will activate diagnostic codes and event codes. The Implement ECM controls the Primary Steer functions and most of the blade control functions. The Implement ECM receives operator input from the left joystick and from the right joystick in order to control the steering and blade functions.Implement ECM 2 (MID 145) - Implement ECM 2 (MID 145) is the second Implement ECM. The Implement ECM 2 controls some blade functions and front wheel lean system. The Implement ECM 2 is mounted on the right side of the aft wall of the operator compartment.During machine operation, the Implement ECMs receive input data from various components in the implement system. The ECM decides the state of these inputs and the operating parameters that are stored in the ECM memory. The input devices that are in the implement control system follow:
The left and right joysticks
Other control modules on the machine via the Cat data link and the SAE J1939 data link
Various switches that include the Operator Control switches and the Machine System Pressure switches
Various Machine System sensors that include position sensors, pressure sensors, and temperature sensors
The Cat Electronic Technician (ET) service tool through the service tool connectorThe Implement ECMs activate outputs to solenoids. The solenoids control the implement system and the primary steering system.
